Looking Forward

I've done a crap job with my goals.  I've been drinking iced tea with sugar, scarfing cookies, and spending as much time on the couch as possible.  My addiction to Smurf Village on the iPad has forced me to start Farm Ville on Facebook.  My 2 lb weights are still under my night stand and the stability ball is still deflated and in the box.  I finally got my measurements done and posted on my blog.
But, I can't let my lack of motivation prevent me from starting my challenge.  My actions of today and yesterday are in the past.  I have to look forward and stay positive.  I can still complete this challenge and prove to myself that I can do it.
I've ordered a belly fat burning walking program to help me get going.  It includes a journal to track my progress and give tips.  My neighborhood is great for walking because it is a large squarish-circle with sidewalks and good lighting.  I've got new tennis shoes made for walking and has instability inserts in the heel to increase muscle workouts in the hamstrings, calves, thighs, and butt.

By July 1st Goals:
Weight:  down 10 pounds
Exercise:   combination of at least two exercises daily five times a week
taking lunch to work every day
If all of this happens, my reward will be a Timex Iron Man digital watch

Day 1

It is day one of Challenge #1.  I've gone the whole day without soda, and I actually managed to drink 1.5 liters of water!  I had a Special K protein bar and a handful of almonds for breakfast.  For lunch I had some left over mac & cheese with peas and sausage and Greek yogurt with blueberries.  For an afternoon snack it was sugar free cherry Jello.  I never felt hungry the entire day!  Craziness!  Before it was no breakfast, starving by 10am, huge fast food lunch, and sluggish and snacking by 3:30pm.  Other than a headache this afternoon, I've been pretty active and alert all day.  This just might work.

Challenge #1

My 31st birthday is 17 days from now.  I am challenging myself to take my lunch every day to work, no sugary/caffeinated drinks, and at least 15 minutes of exercise.  I will post my weight and measurements tomorrow morning and again on July 1st.  I'm hoping to lose 10lbs, but will be happy with whatever I've lost.  Wish me luck!

First Post

This is my first post on my blog! Yay me! I'm hoping I can keep this up and have fun with it. I don't know what I'll write about, but I'm sure I'll think of something.  I'm hoping to use this space to showcase my knitting projects and talk about books, movies, and music.  I might even talk about myself and those around me!

Look what I can do!

Look what I can do!  This is the first hat I've knitted.  It is two strands of yarn - one yellow and one blue.  It is a very basic knit hat, but it is a very warm and useful hat.  It goes well with my blue coat.  I made this three plus years ago and it has served me well.  I've made others like for other people.  I'm hoping to showcase them here.
